Selection and Interview Process at Harman
The interview process at Harman typically comprises three rounds, starting with a Aptitude, technical assessment, proceeding to a HR interview for applicable roles.
1. Online Application & Resume Screening: Candidates apply through the HARMAN careers portal, LinkedIn, or campus recruitment channels. Resumes are reviewed based on academic performance, technical skills (such as C/C++, Python, or embedded software), and relevant project experience.
2. Online Assessment: Some internship roles require an initial online assessment to shortlist candidates. The test generally evaluates aptitude, logical reasoning, and basic coding skills (for example, problem-solving in C/C++, Java, or fundamental algorithms). In certain cases, it may also include questions on Linux basics.
3. Technical Interview: This is typically the primary interview round for software intern positions and may be conducted either virtually or in person. Simple to medium-level problems involving arrays, loops, logical reasoning, and basic data structures. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and fundamentals of Embedded Systems, particularly for embedded-focused roles. Candidates are often asked to explain their projects in detail, including design decisions, implementation approaches, and how technical challenges were addressed.
4. HR / Behavioral Interview: Following the technical evaluation, candidates typically go through an HR or cultural fit interview. This round focuses on assessing interpersonal and professional qualities, including communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team, Standard HR questions such as “Tell me about yourself,” strengths and weaknesses, and career goals. Overall fit with the team and motivation for pursuing an opportunity at HARMAN.
5. Offer & Onboarding: Candidates who successfully clear all interview rounds receive a formal offer that includes stipend details and onboarding information. Internship duration are typically around 12 weeks, especially for summer internship programs in many regions.
