The interview process at HCL typically comprises three to four rounds, starting with a Phone screening or aptitude assessment, then technical round, proceeding to a HR interview for applicable roles.
1. Online Assessment / Aptitude Test: The assessment generally includes multiple sections covering quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal ability to evaluate analytical and communication skills. In addition, candidates are assessed through technical multiple-choice questions based on subjects like C, C++, Java, Python, DBMS, Operating Systems, and OOPS concepts. The assessment usually concludes with a coding round that consists of one or two programming problems designed to test problem-solving ability and practical coding skills.
2. Technical Interview: The discussion typically focuses on core computer science fundamentals, including OOPS concepts, data structures such as arrays, linked lists, stacks, and queues, as well as basic algorithms like sorting and searching. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate knowledge of DBMS concepts and write SQL queries, along with understanding operating system topics such as deadlocks and the difference between processes and threads.

Interviewers also assess client-handling capabilities and the candidate’s understanding of their current or previous projects. Additionally, practical aspects such as notice period and availability to join are discussed during this stage.
