Selection and Interview Process at Pearson

The interview process at Pearson typically comprises three to four rounds, starting with a Phone screening or aptitude assessment, then technical round, proceeding to a HR interview for applicable roles.

1. Application + Resume Shortlisting: Typically begins with an online application followed by resume shortlisting, where recruiters evaluate academic background, technical skills, projects, internships, and overall fit for the role.

2. HR Screening Round: During this discussion, candidates are commonly asked to introduce themselves, explain why they want to join Pearson, and talk about their internships, academic projects, or relevant technical experiences. The recruiter may also discuss practical details such as availability to join, preferred work location, notice period, and salary expectations to assess overall suitability for the position.

3. Technical Round: Candidates are typically asked questions on core topics such as OOP concepts, DBMS basics, data structures like arrays, strings, and linked lists, along with SQL query writing and database-related problem-solving. The round may also include simple coding questions and discussions around how these concepts are applied in real-world scenarios or in the candidate’s projects.

4. Managerial Round: Candidates are often asked questions such as describing a challenge faced in a project, how they collaborate and work within a team, and how they handle conflicts or disagreements. Interviewers also explore motivation-based questions like why the candidate chose software engineering and why they are interested in joining Pearson specifically. Additionally, situational questions may be asked to understand how the candidate would respond to real workplace scenarios and challenges.
