“We are looking to hire 15,000-20,000 freshers this year depending on how we see the growth,” he added, without divulging the number of freshers on boarded in Q1.
“We hire freshers from on and off the campus. This quarter we had a 2000 persons net decline, which was lower than the previous quarters. Our utilisation is already at 85 percent, so we have little headroom now left. As we start seeing growth we will look at hiring,” said the Infosys CFO.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) plans to hire around 40,000 new graduates in FY25, after onboarding approximately 11,000 trainees in Q1. In Q1, Infosys reduced its workforce by 1,908, marking the sixth consecutive quarter of declines. A total of 5,452 new employees were added to TCS. In Q1FY25, TCS’s total headcount fell by 1,759 compared with March, and HCLTech’s workforce fell by 8,080.
On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Infosys shares rose 5% to a new all-time high of Rs 1,843, beating market expectations in Q1.
