N Ganapathy Subramaniam, COO, TCS said “We usually hire between 35,000 to 40,000 people and those plans are intact. There are no large-scale layoffs. The way we’ve calibrated this is we’re working towards improving our own utilization because we have a decent bench,” N Ganapathy added.
The number of TCS employees with Generalized Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI) has exceeded 100,000 by the end of the fiscal’s September quarter. A minor reduction of 6,333 employees does not deter the organization from attracting bright, fresh talent and equipping them with the required skills.
TCS’ Chief HR Officer Milind Lakkad highlighted the company’s success in hiring proactive fresh graduates and providing them with targeted training. He elaborated, “Our heightened productivity and superior project outcomes stem from this pipeline of fresh talent, coupled with our efforts to keep attrition in check.”
The current utilization rate of TCS is around 85%, compared to the previous range of 87-90%. According to Subramaniam, TCS’s bench strength can effectively meet various project demands, with approximately 60,000 employees, or 10% of their workforce, available for productive deployment.
