Selection and Interview Process at Cognizant

The interview process at Cognizant typically consists of three stages: an aptitude test, a technical assessment, and finally, an HR interview for applicable roles.

1. Application / Resume Shortlisting: You start by applying through the company website, job portals, or a walk-in drive. The recruiter then reviews your resume to check basic qualifications usually a graduate degree (sometimes 12th pass is acceptable)  along with your communication and typing skills. If your profile matches their requirements, you’ll be shortlisted and moved to the next stage of the process.

2. Aptitude / Assessment Test: This may include an English test covering grammar and comprehension, along with basic reasoning or logical questions. Some roles also include a typing test to check speed and accuracy. In certain hiring processes, this step is skipped and candidates are moved directly to the interview stage.

3. HR / Initial Interview: In this round, you’ll typically be asked to introduce yourself, explain why you’re interested in the job, and confirm whether you’re comfortable with night shifts. The interviewer may also ask basic personal questions about your background and family, along with scenario-based questions to understand how you handle pressure, meet deadlines, and manage work situations.

4. Operational / Final Round: In this stage, candidates are usually asked questions about what a non-voice process is, along with basic computer knowledge such as Excel and email handling. Interviewers may also check simple IT awareness with questions like the difference between RAM and ROM. Additionally, situational questions are asked to understand how you would handle repetitive tasks and maintain accuracy in your work.
