Selection and Interview Process at Emerson
The interview process at Emerson typically comprises three to four rounds, starting with a Phone screening or aptitude assessment, then technical round, proceeding to a HR interview for applicable roles.
1. Online Assessment: The first stage may be an online aptitude or technical assessment. It can cover quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability, basic programming, and software-testing fundamentals. For fresher-oriented Emerson roles, recent reports also mention programming fundamentals, OOP, SQL, debugging, and project-related questions.
2. Technical Interview: The technical round is likely to focus heavily on manual and automation testing concepts. Prepare topics such as STLC, SDLC, test-case design, test scenarios, regression testing, smoke and sanity testing, functional and non-functional testing, defect life cycle, severity vs. priority, integration testing, and performance testing.
3. Practical/Automation Discussion: For automation-focused positions, interviewers may ask you to write or explain a small automation script, develop test cases for a given application, identify bugs from a scenario, or explain an automation framework you have used. Candidates may also be asked how they would create a regression suite, handle integration testing, or test software that interacts with hardware or industrial systems.
4. Project/Resume Discussion: Expect questions about your academic or personal projects, testing experience, tools used, challenges faced, and your individual contribution. Be prepared to explain why you selected particular testing approaches and how you identified and resolved defects. Emerson interview reports also show project and experience-based questions appearing in engineering interviews.
