Selection and Interview Process at IBM
The interview process at IBM typically comprises three to four rounds, starting with a Phone screening or aptitude assessment, then technical round, proceeding to a HR interview for applicable roles.
1. Online Assessment: Shortlisted candidates may first complete an online assessment. Depending on the hiring drive, this can include English/communication, logical reasoning, basic aptitude, and work-style or cognitive assessments. IBM’s official careers page confirms that assessments can include coding, video, and English-language components, although not every assessment is used for every role.
2. HR/Operations Interview: The main interview for an HR Operations Process Associate is likely to focus on HR fundamentals, employee-data handling, communication, accuracy, and problem-solving.
3. Excel/HR Operations Discussion: For an HR Operations role, be prepared for practical questions around MS Excel, data validation, sorting/filtering, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables, basic formulas, and maintaining accurate employee records. You may also be asked about HR systems such as Workday or ServiceNow, depending on the specific team.
4. Managerial/Final HR Round: The final discussion generally evaluates communication, teamwork, adaptability, learning ability, career goals, and flexibility regarding location or shifts.
