Selection and Interview Process at Hitachi

The interview process at Hitachi typically comprises three rounds, starting with a technical, Managerial or Case study proceeding to a HR interview for applicable roles.

1. Application + HR Screening: Candidates are typically contacted by HR for an initial screening call. During this conversation, the recruiter walks through your resume to understand your background and experience, discusses your notice period and salary expectations, and checks your overall understanding of the role to assess basic fit.

2. Hiring Manager / Functional Interview: It is usually conducted by the team lead or manager and typically lasts around 45–60 minutes. This round focuses heavily on your past experience, with particular attention to your understanding of processes such as operations, training, or procurement. You can also expect detailed discussions about the KPIs or metrics you have handled, along with scenario-based questions designed to evaluate how you approach real-world challenges.

3. Technical Round: The focus is typically on tools like Excel, reporting, and workflow management systems. In training roles, the discussion may center around LMS platforms, coordination, and documentation practices. For engineering or product-based roles, candidates are usually assessed on domain-specific technical knowledge relevant to the position.

4. HR / Culture Fit Round: During this stage, you’ll typically discuss how well you fit with the organization’s culture and values. Common questions include why you want to join Hitachi, where you see your career progressing in the future, and how you handle pressure or challenging situations at work.
